Everett Daniel Olsen is the winner of the Grant County Herald’s “First Baby Born in 2021 to Parents From Grant County,” contest. He was also the first baby born at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls for 2021. Everett, the son of Danielle and Dustin Olsen, Elbow Lake, was born January 7, at 8:19 a.m.. He weighed 6 lbs. 4 oz, and was 19 inches long. His father, who is in the National Guard, is in the middle of a 400 day deployment to Afghanistan and was able to watch the delivery virtually, via WhatsApp. Sister-in-law, Robin, filled in for dad. Everett has three siblings, Kayle, 15, Will, eight, and Audrey. His grandparents are Dan and Dawn Gehrke, Elbow Lake. Interestingly, Everett was delivered by Dr. Dustin Sperr, himself a New Year’s baby.
