TAIL-Wind Direction held their first ever Breakfast on the Farm fundraiser on late Sunday morning.
The farm, which was donated to the nonprofit organization by the Arvid and David Johnson families, is down a dirt road, just off the beaten path from downtown Herman.
In addition to breakfast, there were games, including mini golf, (toy) axe throwing, a number of vendors, and a bean bag tournament at noon.
TAIL-Wind Direction’s mission is to develop a rural working farm model for adults with disabilities. The fundraiser is part of the group’s Raise the Roof campaign, which will modify the farmhouse to accommodate adults with disabilities.
According to their website, tailwinddirection.com, “There is a great need for programs to help aid individuals after transitioning from high school. Especially those who have sensory issues that prevent them from fulfilling job tasks because of distractions, sounds, smells, and light, which can trigger sensory overload and cause meltdowns. We are here to help direct and aid individuals with their daily life activities to help them reach their full potential and accomplish a feeling of self-worth.”
