The Elbow Lake City Council approved the purchase, by the Economic Development Authority, of 20 acres of land from the Walwick Trust directly south of the Elbow Lake Industrial Park. The land will be set up for commercial development, and be adjacent to the new location of Midwest Machinery, which is moving to the area from its downtown location.
“This should make the property even more attractive,” stated Mayor Deb Hengel, adding that the city plans to apply for grants to install infrastructure to the site.
The council also heard from Ryan Thielen who said he was interested in building and operating a 30’ x 96’ greenhouse on land just south and east of the Elbow Lake Athletic Park. Thielen was told his first step should be to go to the Planning Commission for a building permit. The Planning Commission meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m.
