The city of Elbow Lake will be introducing a Bike Share program this summer, sponsored by Horizon Public Health. The program will provide five bikes that can be checked out and unlocked via an app on your phone to ride around town, to the beach, or wherever. The bikes are free to check out.

The City Council heard about the program at their meeting last Monday.

The white Dynamic Bicycles are aluminum with step through frames, and Shimano Nexus 7-speed internal gear hubs that eliminate external chainrings and derailers, operated by a twist shifter. They also have Tektro alloy brakes, a brown leather seat and stitched grips, full coverage fenders and chainguard, a rear basket, twist bell, front and rear reflectors. The basket can also be used for advertising if businesses are interested.

The parking dock for the bikes will be in front of the community building.

The council also heard about a grant City Clerk Jeff Holsen  submitted to help fund colorful benches, tables and shade umbrellas for users of the splash pad at Veterans Park. Holsen said he felt chances of getting the grant were very good and he hoped to have the project completed by early summer. All components are made in America and should be delivered quickly.
