
The Elbow Lake City Council has been asked to support moving the Elbow Lake Farmers’ Market from Veteran’s Park to the Courtyard, in front of the Community Building, this summer. The request came from the Chamber of Commerce. Mayor Deb Hengel brought the request to the city council last Monday. The Thursday afternoon farmers’ market started years ago at Soo Park, but moved to Veterans’ Park last summer. Organizers feel a move to the Courtyard will greatly increase visibility, as it is on the busiest intersection in Elbow Lake, which is the hub of Elbow Lake.
However there are some negatives to the change as well. The public library uses the space sometimes for its children’s programming, which also take place on Thursday evenings. Also, parking could be a problem.
