As 2022 got underway, the COVID-19 pandemic making daily headlines that lasted into the spring. Hospitals were again overwhelmed with patients as case numbers skyrocketed as the omicron variant spread due to its ability to avoid immunity from vaccinations or previous infections.
But as the spring progressed, the infections fell. The number of deaths declined significantly, and overwhelmed hospitals and staff saw relief from their grueling ordeal. But COVID-19 didn’t go away. It continued to infect and kill Minnesotan’s vulnerable to the respiratory disease.
