Barrett’s historic pavilion, a beloved community landmark built in 1929, is facing an urgent need for repairs. The leaking roof and water-damaged floor of the pavilion have become a growing concern, threatening the integrity of a site that continues to host various community activities, such as the Elbow Lake Lions Speakeasy Fundraiser scheduled for this Saturday.
Joyce Hanson, a committed community member, has been relentless in her efforts to raise funds for the ailing pavilion. While grants have been applied for, the approval process may take time, and the condition of the pavilion’s roof and floor continues to deteriorate. Hanson noted that the pavilion not only needs to be fixed but also restored and preserved to maintain its historical value.
