Herman-Norcross FCCLA members attend fall meeting

On Oct. 23, members of the Herman-Norcross Chapter of FCCLA attended the Central West Area Fall FCCLA Conference hosted at the Wheaton Area High School.

There were 90 students in attendance from six chapters. 

Mr. Martin Lanter, Wheaton High School and Middle School Principal, gave a very nice greeting to all participants. Attending the meeting from the Herman Chapter included Aubrie Barry, Hayley Bertram, Makayla Bertram, Bree Blume, Ella Blume, Emily Drewicke, Jacob Drewicke, Carter Fickes, Kimberly Kerzman, Kaden Lennes, Jonathan Olson, Jennaya Pederson and Josey Vipond.

Presiding over the Central West Area Fall Meeting was Ernest Jibben, Central West Area President from Wheaton High School. Assisting President Jibben were Central West Area Vice President Kaden Lennes from Herman-Norcross High School and Central West Area Secretary/Treasurer Hunter Koch from Wheaton High School.  

Following the traditional FCCLA opening ceremony, the fall meeting attendees participated in a game of “Find Someone Who….”  This game got the members out of their seats and learning about each other.

The focus of the fall meeting is to educate and familiarize members with FCCLA’s eight national programs. FCCLA chapter members from Wheaton and Herman-Norcross presented interactive workshops highlighting each of the eight FCCLA National Programs in Action: Career Connection, FACTS (Families Acting for Ccommunity Traffic Safety), Families First, Financial Fitness, Community Service Power of One, Stand Up, Student Body,STAR Events.

Members leading workshops included Klohe Hersch, Ernest Jibben, Raquel Kallstrom, Hunter Koch, London Rinke, Emily Rueda, Anna Timm and Ellie Whaley from the Wheaton Chapter. Leading workshops from the Herman-Norcross Chapter of FCCLA were Makayla Bertram, Emily Drewicke, Jacob Drewicke, Carter Fickes, Jonathan Olson, Jennaya Pederson and Josie Vipond.

This meeting was another step in the members’ 2023-2024 Ultimate FCCLA Journey and a chance to “Sail Away with FCCLA”!
