Houses expand rental business

Tom and Kari House have been in the rental business for over four years. Their Oak Point Rental can furnish tables, chairs, and pretty much anything else you need to make your graduation party, wedding reception, or family reunion a success.

“We saw a need locally,” said Tom, on why the Houses got into the business. “We started with enough for 75 guests, then expanded to 150, and now can furnish what you need for 300 guests.”

“People have enough to worry about when planning a wedding,” added Kari. “We can lighten their load.”

Oak Point Rentals can deliver, set up, and pick up following the event as well.

“We have four kids to help out, and foster children,”  Kari explains.

Eventually, Oak Point Rentals may add gardening equipment for rental, kayaks and/or canoes, and power equipment for the do-it-yourselfer, who doesn’t want to buy a table saw.

This past summer, they expanded their rental business by purchasing a house, located directly off the 7th and 11th greens, and 8th and 12th tee boxes on Tipsinah Mounds Golf Course, on Pomme de Terre Lake. Called “House on the Green”, the home is located an 2.5 acres, and has an open floor plan that has been completely remodeled and updated. Currently, it sleeps six with two bedrooms. Pets are welcome, and the rental includes Internet and cable TV.

“We have plans to covert the garage to bedrooms also, so we can sleep up to 20,” said Tom.

The rental also features a knotty pine, three-season porch where renters can catch a sunset over Pomme de Terre Lake or watch golfers putt and drive.

The House on the Green is perfect for out-of-town guests coming for a wedding, shower, bachelor/ette party, family reunion, or just a relaxing weekend getaway. They can golf, of course, and pretty Fairhaven Beach is  less than a mile away. Pomme de Terre Lake is also known for excellent fishing and boating. There is plenty of parking space for your boat or jet ski.
