It’s lambing season on the Jon and Tanya Winter farm, northwest of Hoffman. (Above) Teagan Winter cuddles with a week-old lamb that is being bottle-fed. The Winters have around 300 Polypay ewes, who lamb in three rounds of around 100, each a week apart. Most ewes produce twins, but some have triplets, and quadruplets are not uncommon. That means a lot of lambs gamboling about, getting in trouble, and often needing bottle-feeding from the Winter kids. The sheep are raised for market, and sold at around 130 pounds. Although the sheep were sheared over the weekend, there is very little value in sheep wool at this time.
