Jaime Johnson, a senior at West Central Area Secondary School, has been selected as one of four state finalists for the prestigious Minnesota FFA Star in Agribusiness award. The recognition is one of the highest honors bestowed by the Minnesota FFA, an organization that boasts a membership of over 14,000 students statewide.

Johnson, 17, is poised to find out if she will claim the title of State Star in Agribusiness during the award ceremony scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Monday, April 22, at Mariucci Arena. As a top contender in her category, her achievements in and contributions to agricultural studies have distinguished her among her peers.

“This is not an award you apply for,” Johnson explained. “That is why I think this award is kind of cool, because I didn’t choose to get it. They picked me out of the pool and that is why it stands out from other awards. They have to zero in on whether you are qualified or not.”
