No job too big or too small for Duo-Kings

For most of his working life, Tim Buchite (Boo Hyte) has been a contractor, and for all of those years he was worked for someone else.

“I grew up in Crosby-Ironton where my dad was a contractor,” he said. “I started with him when I was a wee little guy and it got in my blood.”

In 2007, the Buchites moved to Barrett where Tim worked for a contractor out of Fergus Falls. For a change of pace, he also drove a recycling truck for the Grant County DAC for a number of years. Later, he became a project supervisor for a large contractor out of the Fargo-Moorhead area.

“For a long time, I had been thinking about going on my own,” he recalls. “After three years as a project supervisor, I learned a lot about the business side of things, and decided to make my move.”

Thus Duo-Kings, LLC Construction and Remodeling was born. Buchite, with his main man, Derek Getz, have already had a busy spring with jobs lined up for the rest of the summer.

“The ‘Duo’ comes from the fact it is Derek and I, and we do construction and remodeling. King means ‘Go big or go home.’”

The business logo includes a rafter featuring the ‘King’ post, and two king crowns.

“It just sounded right,” said Buchite.

Duo-Kings supports local lumber yards and hardware stores over the big box stores. They are fully insured, and Buchite is about to get his contractor license so he can hire local sub-contractors whenever he can.

“We can do anything from building a house from the ground up to remodeling your kitchen, building  a deck, installing siding, doors, windows, or reroofing your house.”

“Recently, I remodeled an outhouse into a shed in a weekend. We will do whatever you can envision.”

Last week, the Duo-Kings were in Herman, lifting a house to stabilize the foundation.

The Duo-Kings try to work within a 100 mile radius of Barrett. This radius may shrink or expand depending on how much work there is.

“This is a passion of mine… to improve somebody’s house, and see their tears of happiness. This is why I do it.”
