After a nine-day trial in Grant County District Court, a jury returned a not guilty verdict on July 17, in the case of State of Minnesota v. Connor Grytdahl.
Grytdahl was charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of his brother, Stephen Grytdahl. Connor Grytdahl was cleared of all charges. If convicted, he would have faced a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison.
The incident occurred on Feb. 18, 2024. At 9:30 p.m. Connor Grytdahl made an initial call to law enforcement stating Stephen Grytdahl had been drinking. He told officers that his use of alcohol violated his probation rules following a charge of intoxication in Otter Tail County.
