Ever since the Herman-Norcross school board was approached last spring to add softball, volleyball and girls basketball to the Border West pairing agreement, the district has been struggling to make the agreement fair to all districts involved. The Border West program already includes several sports in the current agreement, but was approached by Clinton-Graceville- Beardsley to add softball and girls basketball starting with the 2025-26 school year and volleyball in 2026-27.
Board members from Herman-Norcross have been particularly concerned about travel time to practices and games for the Herman-Norcross athletes and fans. If these are held in Graceville, the travel time is increased by quite a bit. The daily practices are currently held in Wheaton and Graceville could become the site for future practices.
The Herman-Norcross board members have been making their concerns vocal for the committee that was to design the plan. One of the things asked for was equal time for practice and some home games. As an equal partner in the agreement, they did not feel this was too much to ask for. When the pairing agreement came out, the plan for practices and games would be left up to the discretion of coaches and athletic directors.
