When Paul and Tracy Reiland purchased the former Home 20 bar and grill in Elbow Lake, most folks figured it would be another one year ownership like so many that have tried, and failed to make a success of the troubled establishment before.
That was 14 years ago.
“It’s all about customer service, quality food, and reasonable prices,” Reiland said.
Reiland grew up in the Twin Cities but, an avid fIsherman, he longed to get out into greater Minnesota. After working at a resort on Lake of the Woods the couple purchased the Leaf Valley Mercantile in 1997 and moved to west central Minnesota. Twenty years ago the couple opened the Knotty Pine in Brandon and on October 1, 2009 purchased the Elbow Lake bar and grill and renamed it the Knotty Pine as well.
The Reilands have sold the business to the owners of Angelina’s in Alexandria who will be taking over June 1. Paul has purchased Chumpy’s Bait from Tim Hein and looks forward to selling bait and fishing supplies to area sportsmen and women.
Reiland wishes to thank his loyal customers for their support. He is especially thankful for the support the community gave him during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Folks really stepped up to keep us going with take out orders,” he recalls. “It was unbelievable how much support everyone gave us. I hope the new owners receive that support as well.”
The Knotty Pine will be closed for a week in early June as the new owners prepare for their opening.
