The West Central Area School Board rejected a cooperative agreement to share a girl’s gymnastics program with Morris Area High School. The board, and superintendent Paul Brownlow have been considering Morris Area’s offer all fall and tabled a decision last month as they sought more information about the season, did WCA girls sports coaches have any concerns and transportation issues.

Brownlow said, according to the Minnesota High School League, official practices for the winter sport start on November 14, so WCA will have to decide quickly. He said WCA participates in Alpine Skiing but Andes Tower Hills pays for that program. Many schools are adding girls wrestling or hockey as a girls winter sport, so more girls sports are becoming popular. He said there is no way to anticipate how gymnastics would affect the school budget at this time because there is no way of knowing what participation numbers would be, or transportation costs.

Brownlow recommended WCA enter into a cooperative agreement with Morris and do a survey, after the season, to determine if they should continue.
