Spring Kids’ Drive

Donations are needed for the Wendell Lions Club, Diaper and Basic Spring Kids’ Drive, Wednesday, May 11, 2022, in Wendell.

“The idea for this came from a Lions District meeting where Lions Clubs were talking about it,” said Deb Lacey of the Wendell Lions. “We talked about it at our Wendell Lions meeting and decided to try it.”

The Lions knew they needed to get the project off the ground quickly, before summer starts and things get really hectic.

“We found out there was a Changemakers Family Baseball Night, at the Wendell Diamond, on May 11 and realized it was a perfect fit.”

Kids’ essential items being collected include: shampoo and conditioner, body wash, face wash (for all skin types), razors, larger sizes of diapers, laundry soap, deodorant, toothbrushes and toothpaste, feminine hygiene products, towels and washcloths, and new socks and underwear.

You can also make a cash donation and the Lions will do the purchasing for you.

Bring your donations to Wendell Ball Diamond between 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., during the WCA Changemakers Family Baseball Night.

You can even join in the game!

Also, pre-made essential items in bags for kids are welcome. This includes motel freebies and samples that are not opened.

“Or you can buy travel kits at many stores,” said Lacey. “They work really well for kids in foster care who may move around a bit. This way they have something that they can take with them and is theirs.”
