This year’s Support Staff Person of the year is Mona Ozols. Mona is a paraprofessional at South Elementary. Her accolades were many, but here are a few. “Mona is always going above and beyond her job duties; helping students and co-workers, both teachers and fellow support staff. Mona personifies the values that we strive to instill in our students: responsibility, respectfulness, safety, and kindness. Mona can often be found studying 4th grade math, gathering extra supplies to support a student better, tying shoelaces for preschool students, or planning fun and engaging activities for the after school program. Mona’s devotion and love to the students that she works with is unprecedented. Mona literally takes the math packets home to work out the problems so she can better understand them in turn to better explain the problems to her students. She can also tell when her student needs a little extra…love…treat…or even a little “bribe” now and then to get a tough assignment completed. Her humble care and attention to the needs of others in our school is exceptional! “
This year’s Teacher of the Year is John Kreft. John is an industrial technology teacher at the Secondary School. John’s nomination read, “John Kreft has been taking care of students and staff for as long as I have been here. He does what is best for all and spends countless hours to make sure WCA is a top-notch educational facility. Mr. Kreft provides educational experiences to his students that are educational and beneficial to our students, staff, and communities. The values that Mr. Kreft instills into our youth are invaluable and teach the ideals of paying it forward to our students.”
