Boy Scout Troop #318 gathered on Sunday to celebrate their Scouts and recognize some significant achievements. Ben Bye, Reid Lien, and Josh Exe were given their Life Rank and Eli Bergman, Spencer Engen, and Isaac Kreft were presented with their Eagle Scout Award.
The Eagle Scout Award is the highest award available to youth members of the Boy Scouts of America. It is a recognition by the National Court of Honor, presented through the local council and a local court of honor. It represents many years of dedicated effort. It is a demonstration of how people, working together, can truly help mold a young person with a solid sense of leadership, citizenship, and responsibility.
Community members and family gathered to hear about each Scout’s Eagle Scout Project and recognize their achievements in a Court of Honor.
Eli Bergman designed and constructed four Little Free Libraries that can be found throughout the Hoffman community and were supported by the Hoffman Lions Club and the Hoffman Lumberyard. Thanks to Eli’s forethought and dedication, people in Hoffman will have access to free books.
Spencer Engen saw a need as a dog owner himself and then worked diligently to fill that need. He constructed a Dog Toy Lending Library that is housed at the Athletic Park in Elbow Lake. Dog owners can exercise with their dogs and thanks to Spencer’s forward-thinking, they have access to free dog toys when they are at the Athletic Park.
