The winter is getting long and folks are starting to dream of summer: fishing, camping, baseball… and, golf.

After suffering catastrophic wind damage this past summer that uprooted over 200 trees and severely damaged the clubhouse, the 18-hole course on the east shore of Pomme de Terre Lake is set to open April 1 with a rebuilt and enlarged clubhouse and $75,000 in ARPA funds to purchase new trees.

An addition to the clubhouse, which doubles the size of the old one and includes a wrap-around porch on the west side to watch golfers as they play through, is framed in and ready to finish.  A new roof has been installed replacing the one that was ripped off in the storm. The 300 plus member golf club has borrowed funds for the project and is planning fundraisers to raise the $100,000 necessary as well. As before, the clubhouse will offer pizza rolls and other snacks as well as beer. The basement is being converted from lockers to storage including a storage place for the golf course’s beverage carts.

Tipsinah Mounds Golf Course is a public golf course governed by a nine-member board of directors with Adam Johnson the current chairperson.
