On August 28, U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack paid a visit to MN, joined by several prominent figures in the political and agricultural sectors. Among those accompanying Vilsack were U.S. Senators Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith, Congresswoman Betty McCollum (MN-4), and Minnesota Agriculture Commissioner Thom Petersen. A significant roundtable discussion with local producers, small businesses, and community leaders was the main event, during which the secretary discussed federal investment initiatives designed to uplift rural communities across the country.
Initiatives announced during the visit aim to boost income for agricultural producers and spark economic vitality in rural areas. These objectives fall under President Joe Biden’s broader “Investing in America” and “Bidenomics” agenda. During the roundtable, Secretary Vilsack detailed new investments that will focus on building and improving infrastructure, not only in MN, but throughout the nation.
