The West Central Area School Board began to fill some of its spring coaching positions last week. They agreed to offer coaching contracts to: Mikkel Anderson, head baseball coach; Tim Riley, assistant baseball coach; Gage Wevley, junior high baseball coach; Demara Bumgardner, assistant track coach; Morgan McGaffey, assistant softball coach; and Courtney Mohagen, junior high softball coach.
In other personnel news, Gage Wevley was hired as a long term substitute PE/Heath/DAPE for the Secondary School, the board accepted the resignation of Joyce Ruud, Title 1 Paraprofessional at the Secondary School, and a FMLA Child Care Leave for Nicholas Ganoe, WCA band instructor. Superintendent Paul Brownlow said a recent student teacher, who has since earned his teaching license, will fill in for Ganoe.
Budget
Superintendent Brownlow reported he had been working on the 2023-24 budget with the elementary and secondary school principals and is asking staff for their capital outlay requests. Capital outlay are classroom, and/or educational instruction materials teachers need for the upcoming year.
“Our goal is to hold to the budget and minimize deficit spending,” said Brownlow. The board will look at and approve capital outlay requests at their April meeting.
