WCA hires full-time Daycare Supervisor

The West Central Area School Board approved the hiring of Megan Holmes as Daycare Supervisor at WCA North Elementary. They also approved a job description for the position, and the position will be incorporated into the 12-month District Office Support Group, retroactive to July 12, 2021. 

Superintendent Paul Brownlow told the board that the school district had one snow day and two e-learning days last week, the school was closed December 13 and used the staff TOPS day, and had e-learning days on Dec. 15 and 16.

Brownlow said schools are supposed to use only five e-learning days per year but student safety has to be the priority.

“We will be reviewing our practice and providing tweaks to ensure we provide a high-quality learning experience for our students and staff,” he added.

Other business

The board passed a resolution accepting donations from: Wendell Auxiliary of $25 for the lunch account, Kensington Fire Relief of $1,000 for the school musical, Elbow Lake Fire Relief of $1,000 for the Robotics program, $1,000 for Special Education instruction supplies, $2,500 for the school musical, $1,500 for the Mighty Knights Football Program, $2,000 for the EMT, EMR Class equipment, $2,000 for the Greenhouse project, and $2,500 for the 6th Grade Field Trip.

The board approved the hiring of Kayleen Whaley-Kimber as a Secondary School Special Education paraprofessional beginning at step 1 beginning January 3, 2023.

The board approved the hiring of Brenda L. Johnson as a full-time evening custodian at the Secondary School beginning Dec. 19, 2022.

The board approved the resignation of Jessica Nelson, Payroll Manager, effective Dec. 30, 2022.

The board recognized the four-years of service of retiring board member Darin Grosz and presented him with a commemorative school bell.
