The West Central Area softball team had a relatively light week last week as they played two games. First, they hosted Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta in Barrett and fell 14-4 on April 15. Next, the team traveled to Melrose April 18 for what was supposed to be a doubleheader, but they were only able to play one game due to weather. In that game, the Dutchmen handled the Knights with a close 6-3 win.

The Tigers did the majority of their damage in the early innings against West Central Area. MACA scored five runs in each of the first two innings to jump out to a 10-0 advantage.

Over the final five innings, the Knights were able to tie the game at 4-4, but it was not nearly enough.

MACA scored a run in the top of the third to make it 11-0. The Knights finally got on the scoreboard with two runs in the bottom of the third to make it 11-2.

West Central Area scored two more runs in the bottom of the fifth to make it 11-4, but MACA scored one run in the sixth and three more in the seventh to secure the 11-run victory over the Knights.

Addison Staples and Madi Fagre both led the team going 3 for 4. Staples had a double and a run and Fagre had a run, an RBI and two steals. Brinley Ulrich also finished with multiple hits, going 2 for 3 with an RBI.

Lily Mahoney pitched the first three and two-thirds and allowed 10 earned runs off 10 hits and struck out two. Sophie Sanstead pitched two and two-thirds and gave up one run off three hits and struck out two.
