West Central Area Secondary School’s “Caffeine Machine” coffee shop is an example of entrepreneurial spirit and educational innovation thriving in a classroom setting. Operating from Claire VanBlarcom’s classroom, this student-run business has seen remarkable growth since its inception in 2019.
Initially a modest setup with a simple folding table and a single Keurig machine, the Caffeine Machine has expanded significantly. It now boasts its own kitchen, two Keurig machines, and ample space for an assortment of coffee pods, drink mixes, creamers, and syrups. The coffee shop, which serves teachers’ orders on Tuesdays and Thursdays, has evolved into a hub of practical learning and student engagement.
