WCA to present one-act play about immigrants

West Central Area High School presents the one act play A Bright, Clear Sky, by Kristina Halvorson Thursday, January 25, at 7:00 p.m. Admission is free, WCA’s entry in the Sub-Section 21A One Act Contest. The play will be performed at the Sub-Section 21A contest Friday, afternoon Jan. 26, 2:30 at WCA.

Commissioned by the Guthrie Theatre, 20 years ago, A Bright, Clear Sky tells the story of 10 young Norwegian immigrant homesteaders, spending their first winter on the North Dakota prairies. They face blizzards, starvation, loneliness, and family squabbles, in a true-to-life depiction of life in a 20 by 15 foot sod hut.

The play is directed by Chris and Susan Ray and features WCA seniors: Carson Winter, Alexa Blume, Teagan Winter, and Grant Lindquist; juniors: Mia Holmes, Grace Hauglie, Gracie Puchalski, and Kayla Huizinga; sophomores: Trevin Nessman and Mia Nelson.

The technical crew includes: Tristan Fagre, Ben Nyreen and Jackson Nadgwick.
