The West Central Area (WCA) School District is seeking a new member for its school board following the resignation of Jared Olson.
Olson’s resignation was at the forefront of the board’s meeting last Wednesday as it discussed the process for filling the vacancy. Olson resigned late last month with more than three years remaining in his four-year term.
His resignation letter was read during the meeting, and a motion was made and passed to accept it. Olson’s resignation leaves an open seat on the seven-member school board that will now be filled by appointment.
In his resignation letter to the Board Chair Michelle Nessman, Olson stated: “It is with a heavy heart I submit this letter. I wish to apologize to my fellow board members, administration, faculty and staff of West Central Area School District.
“A recent embarrassing event which has conspired and left my seat on the board in controversy. I am embarrassed and apologize for this event, but I feel it in the best interest of the district that I step down immediately to enable the board to continue to advance the great work and goals of ISD 2342.
