Ardis Leone Swedberg was born on the family farm in rural Hoffman, MN on April 15, 1935. She was born to Olof and Alpha (Johnson) Swedberg. She was baptized on June 9, 1935, by Reverend B.G. Holmes at Bethel Lutheran Church in Hoffman. She attended school in Hoffman, graduating with the class of 1953. Following her high school graduation, she started working for First Farmers National Bank in Alexandria. She worked as a bookkeeper and stenographer for the Vice President. She met and later married Roger Soberg at Bethel Lutheran Church on April 7, 1956. Four days after their wedding, Roger was drafted into the United States Army and was sent to Basic Training. Shortly after basic training, Roger was sent overseas to Heilbronn, Germany. Despite challenges with language, a 10-day and $185.00 boat ride across the Atlantic Ocean, multiple train rides through an unfamiliar country and a few unfriendly Germans, the couple were reunited in Heilbronn. They remained there, settling with a retired minister and made many friends.

In January of 1958, Ardis and Roger returned to the United States. After being honorably discharged, they relocated to Minneapolis. Roger worked for Honeywell while Ardis raised their family. To this union, five children were born: Mark, Scott, Brent, Lon and Kurt. Despite having a good job, Roger and Ardis decided to move their family to Barrett, MN in 1972. They worked hard running Soberg Standard Station, and raising their children.

Ardis enjoyed staying busy. She enjoyed oil painting and was known widely for her painting abilities. She and Roger also enjoyed traveling, making many memorable trips to places such as: Garmish (Germany), Innsbruck (Austria), Amsterdam (Holland), Zurich (Switzerland), Naples and Rome (Italy), Paris (France), Brussels (Belgium) and Southampton (England)! Ardis was always busy, being an active part of the Barrett community, raising five boys, attending “Pioneer” baseball games and spending time with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ardis is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Roger; children: Mark (Pat) Soberg, Scott (Julie) Soberg, Brent Soberg, Lon Soberg and Kurt Soberg; grandchildren: Dylan (Jennifer) Soberg, Jenna Soberg, Neil Soberg, Cassie Soberg and Riley (Haley) Soberg; great-grandchildren: Alexander, Brooks and Collin, along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Olof and Alpha; a half-brother Ronald (Lois) Kvitek; half-sister Elrene (Ray) Ogren.
