Cynthia Dianne (Pletan) Nelson, 78, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2024. Cyndy was born to Kenneth and Myrtle Pletan in 1945 in western MN. She was raised on a farm, attended grade school “in town”, graduated from Elbow Lake High School in 1963, and then moved to the cities to attend Minneapolis Business College. Cyndy was employed by 3M in St. Paul. She met her husband of 55 years, Peter, on a blind date and they were married in 1968 in Fort McClelland, AL. While Peter served in Vietnam, Cyndy faithfully wrote him a letter nearly every day until his return in December 1969. They moved to St. Paul where they raised 4 children in the Dayton’s Bluff neighborhood. Cyndy ran a home daycare for many years, where she loved and cared for other families’ children as if they were her own. Cyndy left her beloved MN in 1983 when Peter’s job moved them to KS, Washington State and, finally, to TX. They retired in TX, and enjoyed family gatherings with their children and grandchildren. Family was very important to Cyndy and Peter, and life was especially difficult after Peter’s passing. Cyndy and Peter were so proud of their family, which includes 5 children: Melissa (deceased), Darryl, Laralynn, Peter, and Andrew; 10 grandchildren; two brothers, Rodney and Robert; many nieces and nephews and countless dear friends, many that were lifelong.  Cyndy was preceded in death by her husband, their daughter, Melissa, her parents, and many treasured aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

She is missed by so many, but there is no doubt that she is rejoicing in heaven with so much joy in her perfectly restored, healthy body.  What a blessed reunion in heaven that must have been!

A memorial service will take place on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 10 a.m. in person and online at Calvary Lutheran Church, 7620 Baker Blvd, Richland Hills, TX, 76118. Blessed be the memory of Cyndy Nelson.

And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.” Revelation 21:4-5
