Floyd Linus was born on February 3, 1933, to Clarence and Eleanor (Witzany) Buck in Le Sueur, MN. The youngest of three, he grew up on the family farm and trekked half a mile to a one-room country school through the 8th grade. Afterward, he dedicated his efforts to the family dairy farm. During his frequent visits to the creamery, he charmed the manager’s daughter. He wed Geralene Verna Teschendorf on October 30, 1956. The couple initially farmed locally, later moving to various parts of the state. Floyd was not only a farmer, but also a carpenter, and he earned a Machinist Certificate from Dunwoody Technical Institute. Floyd and Geri raised their five children, moving wherever work opportunities arose. He spent some time building houses in Bemidji, but his most enduring career was as an over-the-road truck driver. In his retirement, Floyd managed maintenance for a local hotel. A man of many hobbies, he relished tinkering, playing cribbage, fishing, and spending time with family. He set the example to all of his children of the importance of faith and family.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Geri in 2021; sons, Steven and Keith Buck; grandson, Brian Floyd Landon; brother, Virgil Buck; and sister, Mildred Sigler.
He is survived by his three daughters, Kathryn (Mike) Zarb, Susan (Larry) Webb, and Tracy (John) Hamari; 10 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
