Rick Andreasen passed away on August 19, 2026 at his home surrounded by the love of his family. Born on March 13, 1957, in Glenwood, MN, Rick was the cherished son of George Arthur Andreasen and Arlene Agnes Peklo.
Rick’s early years were filled with the love and warmth of a close-knit family. He grew up alongside his siblings Marvin, Randy, Georgia, Pat, and Darby. He was confirmed in the Kensington Covenant Church. He met the love of his life, Judi in 1989.They were married on July 8, 1994, and together they built a life rich in love, raising four wonderful children: Lara, Derek, Chelsey and Matthew.
Rick’s educational journey led him to Kensington School, where he graduated in 1975. As a Kensington Viking, he shone on the football field, basketball court, and baseball diamond. He started out as a bat boy for the Kensington Baseball Town Team and later graduated to being one of the players. He attended the University of Minnesota Morris, where he studied English Literature.
His professional path followed the footsteps of his father at Morris Blacktop, and he later dedicated 17 years to Morris Sealcoat and Trucking. He also drove school bus for many years where classic rock and roll was always on the radio. To this day, many of his former passengers blame him for them learning the classic rock and roll music. In 1990, he and Judi bought Crossroads General Store. Many friendships were built over the years at Crossroads that still continued on through the years.
Rick was a dedicated coach for the 7th grade basketball and Summer Rec baseball, and a respected referee for high school basketball. Rick had a passion for golf and bowling, and he relished the excitement of casino visits and family trips to Las Vegas. Rick was an avid Minnesota Twins fan, seldom missing a game on tv. He spent many hours watching the Minnesota Wild, Timberwolves, and Vikings, along with the Golden Gophers.
Above all, Rick was a man of laughter, known for his quick wit and always cracking a joke. He treasured every moment spent with family and friends playing cards, going to a casino, the New Years Eve parties, Mystery Dinner parties, playing games, or just sitting around and visiting. As his health declined in recent years, he enjoyed the serene beauty of nature from his deck, watching birds, and gazing over Red Rock Lake.
Rick’s legacy lives on with his wife Judi; their children Lara (Neil) Schluter, Derek (Kaia) Andreasen, Chelsey (Ryan) Kornetzke, and Matthew Smith DeLong; and his twelve beloved grandchildren: Ethan, Ellie, Collin, Mackenzie, Brady, Jordan, Emelyn, Brianna, Ely, Riley, Ephram, and Cohen. He is also survived by his siblings Randy (Diane) Andreasen, Georgia (Keith) Nelson, Pat (Le) Hausmann, Darby (Cindy Hardin Wier) Andreasen, and sister in law Rosie (Marvin) Andreasen, along with a host of in-laws; Jane (Darrel Voorhees, John and Deanna (Voorhees) Amundson, Dean and Kay Voorhees, and Larry and Carol Voorhees; and many nieces and nephews.
Rick was predeceased by his parents George and Arlene, his brother Marvin, and his brother-in-law Darrell Voorhees. His memory will be a blessing to all who knew him.
A celebration of Rick’s life will be held on September 19, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Kensington Community Center, located at 19 Central Avenue, Kensington, MN, 56343. All who loved him are welcome to attend. The family is asking anyone who is attending Rick’s celebration of life to wear Minnesota sports apparel.
The Andreasen family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who reached out with calls, texts, and visits during this time. Your support and love have been a source of comfort and strength.
