Knights finish 1-2 in tough Paynesville wrestling quadrangular

The Knights wrestling team had a light week with just one competition at the Paynesville quadrangular Feb. 9. The Knights were up against some tough competition and finished 1-2. The team picked up a win in their first dual against Sibley East in convincing fashion 61-8. Next, the team fell to Holdingford 34-20 and lost to the hosts Paynesville 34-27 to cap off the event.

The Knights dominated against Sibley East, winning all but two of the weight classes. Nathan Berthorst won by major decision at 107 pounds and Evan Dingwall made the Knight lead 7-0 decision win at 114 pounds.

One of the Sibley East wins came by technical fall at 121 pounds to make it 7-5. 

WCA/A/BE responded with a pin from Owen Gruchow at 127 pounds and a forfeit win at 133 pounds. Sibley East won their final weight class with a decision win at 139 pounds and the Knights led 19-8.

The Knights won the final seven weight classes, three of them by forfeits. Adam Lohse earned a pin at 152 pounds, Solomon Wales had a pin at 160 pounds, Ezekiel Sieckert had a pin at 189 pounds and Will Rustan had a pin at 285 pounds to give the Knights an easy 49-point win.
