In a game played four hours away between two teams that are just 20 minutes apart, West Central Area baseball team and Brandon-Evansville split in a season-opening doubleheader Thursday, April 13, at Plainview-Elgin-Millville in Elgin.
“It was sunny and 82 degrees,” WCA’s first-year head coach Mike Anderson said. “Southeast Minnesota doesn’t have any snow left and also is pretty dry. It was great for all the kids to get out and play baseball in ‘baseball like’ weather!”
The Knights won game one 11-8 while the Chargers took game two by a score of 13-3.
Brady Lindquist went 4-for-4 in the first game, Anderson said, “The team as a whole hit well in game one.”
Cole Bruss and Cash Nelson took the game one win.
Game two was a little sloppy, Anderson noted, “Our pitchers allowed eight walks and hit two batters.”
