For the first time in over three years, the West Central Area Knights volleyball team beat the Brandon-Evansville Chargers. The win, of the five set variety, came in the season opener for both teams on Friday, Aug. 27, in Evansville.

“It’s been a while,” Foslien told Echo Press of the last time WCA beat Brandon-Evansville. “I think it’s the first time we’ve done it since I’ve been here. It’s definitely a confidence booster to start the season.”

The game appeared as though a sweep was on the horizon for the Knights as they won the first two sets 25-11, 25-14.

The Knights will open the home season against Rothsay at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31, in Barrett, and travel to Long Prairie-Grey Eagle Thursday, Sept. 2. Next week, the Knights are on the road again, with a game at Ashby Thursday, Sept. 9.
