Benson won the first set 25-20 before falling in the next three 25-22, 25-8, 25-23 in West Central Conference volleyball action to West Central Area Tuesday, Oct. 11, in Benson.

The Knights had lost their last four matches outside of a weekend tournament at Parkers Prairie on Sept. 24, and the Knights got back on track at Benson.

WCA improved to 14-7 overall and 6-6 in the West Central Conference with the win.

“Slow start again in set one,” WCA coach Melissa Foslien said. “We got down and had to chase to catch up. We gained momentum at the end of set one and were able to gain our composure to win set two. Set three, we were finally in the zone serving. Whitney Westrom served very well and had a nine-point run. Our outside hitter, Addison Staples, was not feeling well and two of our reserves, Wylie McNally and Madison Fagre, played very well in her place.”

Benson jumped out to a 5-0 lead in set four and kept it close the rest of the way before the Knights closed out the match with a 25-23 win.

Mya Foslien and Madelyn Westrom both had 20 digs each to pace the Knights’ back row defense. Foslien led the offense with 16 kills.
