Just ahead of her junior season on the MACA/WCA girls tennis team, Lydia Sweep got a jump on her fall season by competing in the annual Alexandria Tennis Tournament July 31-Aug. 1. There were four separate divisions at the tournament: girls 18U, girls 15U, boys 18U and boys 15U. Sweep was able to win the girls 18U division, taking down Sam Whaley of Alexandria in the finals.
Sweep, along with the rest of her MACA/WCA teammates started practice on Monday and are gearing up for their first tournament at Mora High School set for Friday, Aug. 21. Sweep will be looking to get back to the state singles tournament for the third straight season in 2026.
