The Wheaton/Herman-Norcross football team led Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley 49-0 at halftime and cruised to a 55-8 win to spoil the Wolverines’ homecoming Friday, Oct. 6, in Graceville.

Notable stat, CGB was 3-of-5 on fourth-down conversions.

The Marshall Tolifson and Clint Determan connection was hot Friday afternoon as Determan hauled in three touchdown passes from Tolifson, all in the first half. Determan had the first two scores of the game, on a 45-yard catch and a five-yard catch. Determan was also 7-for-7 in extra points on the day, too.

Brayden Hofer found the end zone from eight yards out to push the lead to 21-0 and Dylan Bainbridge had a punt return touchdown of 65 yards to put W/H-N up 28-0 after the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Tolifson hooked up with Determan on a 10 yard touchdown pass. The offensive onslaught continued as Patrick Forcier scored on a nine-yard run followed by a second touchdown from Bainbridge, who scored from six yards out as the Warriors took a 49-0 lead into halftime.

After a scoreless third quarter, Brody Nachbor punched in his third touchdown of the season on a five yard run for the final Warrior score of the afternoon.

CGB’s Tyler Groebner scored on a 25 yard run and the Wolverines added the two-point conversion for a 55-8 final score.

Groebner finished with 118 yards on the ground in 25 attempts for CGB, who falls to 0-6 on the year.

Tolifson completed all seven of his pass attempts for 108 yards. Bainbridge led the rushing attack with 47 yards on six carries. Holden Rinke had three carries for 37 yards in the second half under center.

Defensively, Kevin Casper and Bryant Callenius had six tackles each. Callenius had an interception and fumble recovery. Drake Berning also had a fumble recovery and Caden Spilde recorded a blocked kick.

Wheaton/Herman-Norcross (6-0) remains undefeated on the season and will host unbeaten Verndale (6-0) on Friday night. The Pirates beat Bertha-Hewitt 50-14 with 441 yards of total offense.
