The Wheaton/Herman-Norcross volleyball team started the week off a little slow with a 3-0 loss to Milbank at home Oct. 2, but they were able to bounce back three days later when they hosted Brandon-Evansville. The Warriors were in a back-and-forth battle that went the full five sets, but snuck out with the narrow 3-2 win over the Chargers.
After making the 80-mile trip, Milbank was ready to play against the Warriors. They came out in the first set and secured a comfortable 25-19 win over W/H-N. Milbank continued to get stronger as the match went on, winning the second set 25-18 and capping the sweep off with a 25-14 win in the third and final set.
The Warriors racked up 25 total kills as a team. Regan Spilde led the team with eight kills, Hadley Berger and Claire Rinke both chipped in with four and Sadie Vipond added three kills. Jordyn Perry led the Warriors with eight assists and Rinke was not far behind with seven helpers. At the service line, the Knights had six total aces. Perry and Grace Dawson both led the team with two aces and Berger and Mallory Peyton both tallied one.
On defense, the Warriors had three players in double figures for digs. Mallory Peyton led the team with 17 digs, Dawson added 11, Rinke dug out 10, Spilde chipped in with nine and Perry had eight. At the net, W/H-N finished with four blocks, one each from Vipond, Madison Koch, Berger and Rinke.
