WCA boys earn three team wins in three golf meets

The West Central Area golf program played in three meets last week. On April 23, the boys and girls played in their home WCC meet and in Morris for the MACA meet. The boys pulled off two team wins in the WCC meets. The boys made it three team wins in a row when they pulled off a win at the Rothsay meet at Balmoral Golf Course April 25.

MACA meet

The WCA boys earned the top team spot at the meet at Pomme de Terre Golf Course in Morris. The girls came in fifth as a team and had one player in the top-ten.

The boys won the meet as a team with a total of 159, just edging MACA by a single stroke. 

Mitchell and Marshall Dewey both tied for second with rounds of 38. Sam Hanson also was in the top-ten with a round of 40 to place seventh. Ben Bye was the fourth score for the Knights, finishing in 12th with a round of 43. Camden Anderson broke 50 to finish 34th with a 48. Parker Prahl came in 39th with a round of 51 and Bryce Kjesbo finished 42nd with a 54.

The WCA girls came in fifth as a team with a total of 222 and Minnewaska Area won the meet with a total of 175. 

Miley Dewey led the girls with a top-ten finish with a round of 48 to put her in ninth. Hayden Schei finished 23rd with a 57. Emma Kaiser came in 24th with a 58. Summer Benson fired a 59 to come in 26th and Macy Grosz was 35th with a 63.

WCA meet

At their home WCC meet, the Knights boys finished with three of the top-ten scores and the girls had two top-ten finishes in Elbow Lake.

The boys had another one-stroke team win at Tipsinah Mounds. WCA won the meet with a total of 157 and Minnewaska Area was just one stroke behind.

Marshall Dewey led the Knights by finishing second with an even-par round of 36. Mitchell Dewey had another strong showing with a 38 and finished fourth. Sam Hanson came in seventh with a round of 41. The fourth score for the Knights came from Camden Anderson, who shot 42. Parker Prahl tied Anderson with a round of 42. Bye was 23rd with a 45 and Kjesbo came in 39th with a 48.

The girls tied for third as a team with a team total of 197. Minnewaska Area won the meet with a team total of 172. 

Miley Dewey led the team with a seventh place finish and a round of 45. Schei came in ninth with a 47. Grosz broke 50 and finished 12th by carding a 49. Emma Kaiser came in 28th with a 56 and Benson was 31st with a 57.

Rothsay meet

The Knights were on the road again at the Rothsay meet at Balmoral Golf Course. The boys pulled off another team win and had three in the top-ten. 

The boys made it three team wins in three meets by shooting 333 as a team to beat Ottertail Central by five strokes. 

Mitchell Dewey led the Knights in fourth with a round of 78. Camden Anderson was sixth with a round of 84. Bye cracked the top-ten with a round of 85 to finish ninth. Sam Hanson was 11th with an 86. Marshall Dewey struggled and carded a 93 to place 27th. Prahl came in 33rd with a round of 98. 

The girls had three players competing as individuals. Miley Dewey led the way for the Knights in fifth with a round of 97. Grosz came in seventh with a 101 and Schei came in 10th with a 109.
