WCA boys golf wins home meet

The West Central Area boys and girls golf team were on their home course for one meet this past week. The boys were able to defend their home course with an easy team win with Mitchell and Marshall Dewey tying for medalist honors. The girls came in third as a team.

The boys dominated on their way to winning the meet as a team by 29 strokes over Hillcrest Lutheran Academy. Two Knights, Mitchell and Marshall Dewey, tied for the low round of the tournament with a 74. Marshall was the official medalist, winning in a scorecard playoff. Mitchell Dewey finished with splits of 37 and 37 and had one birdie and 13 pars. Marshall Dewey fired a 35 on the front and a 39 on the back that featured four birdies and six pars. 

Ben Bye and Sam Hanson had the third and fourth scores for the Knights with rounds of 85 to put them in a tie for eighth. 

Camden Anderson was 16th with an 88 and Bryce Kjesbo came in 20th with a round of 89.

For the girls, WCA finished in a tie for second with a team total of 315. Pillager won the meet with a total of 307. 

Miley Dewey was the low Knight with a round of 91 to put her in third place. Macy Grosz was the second score with a 109 for 10th. Hayden Schei came in 17th by firing a 115. Summer Benson was the fourth used score for the Knights and she finished in 18th with a 116. Emma Kaiser was 19th with a 117 and Tenley Strunk came in 26th with a 143.

The boys and girls were back on the course for conference play at home and in Morris on April 23. The next meet on the schedule is the Underwood meet at Balmoral Golf Club on Thursday, April 25.
