The Knights entered their home game against Melrose Dec. 17 with a 4-2 record, compared to a 2-3 record for the Dutchmen. In their third West Central Conference game of the season, the Knights took care of business on their home floor and came away with a 64-54 win to improve to 2-1 in the conference and 5-2 overall.

The Knights came out firing in the first half and a corner three from Jayden Styba gave the Knights a 13-6 lead. A minute later, Macy Grosz hit another corner three to make it 16-8 with 12 minutes left in the half.

Over the course of the first half of play, the girls continued to create a large gap. Just before the end of the half, Styba swiped a steal and scored a fastbreak layup to make it 39-21 at the halftime break.

In the second half, WCA held a substantial double-digit lead for the majority of the final 18 minutes. Melrose did make a push near the end of the game to make the final score look more respectable, but the Knights were still able to earn a 10-point win over the Dutchmen.

The Knights had a massive advantage on the boards. WCA finished the game with 53 rebounds and the Dutchmen could only pull in 30.

Individual stats were not available at the time of print.

The girls battled Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta in Barrett Dec. 20. The team will have a week off before the play in the Pelican Rapids tournament on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 27-28.
